Saga of Valor & Supreme Sacrifice

On 2–3 July 1999, Lieutenant Balwan Singh led the Ghatak Platoon up a 12-hour climb of sheer cliff under artillery shelling. Severely wounded in the leg, he refused evacuation, encircled the enemy from the rear, and killed four enemy soldiers in ferocious combat, securing the perimeter of Tiger Hill.
