Saga of Valor & Supreme Sacrifice

On 25 November 1987 in Sri Lanka, Major Ramaswamy Parameswaran's column was ambushed by militants. With presence of mind, he encircled the ambush party and charged from the rear. Shot in the chest by a heavy caliber bullet, he grappled with the militant, snatched his weapon, and continued directing his men until the ambush was completely wiped out.
